Masks
Masks to ensure safety and effectiveness.
Our MASKS
When faced with the risk of biological, chemical, or particulate contamination, choosing the right protective mask is never a minor matter. Medicom designs and manufactures a comprehensive line of professional masks intended for the most demanding environments: healthcare facilities, dental offices, industry, the life sciences, and the hygiene sector.
Our catalog draws on two areas of expertise: medical devices, with our Type II and Type IIR surgical masks; and personal protective equipment (PPE), with our FFP1, FFP2, and FFP3 masks. Every product in our lineup meets current safety standards and is suited for real-world use, whether for extended wear, in a controlled environment, or during activities that place heavy demands on breathing.
Which mask should you choose based on your activity?
The choice of a protective mask depends primarily on the nature of the risk to be addressed and the occupational setting. Here are the main categories in our mask lineup and the uses they are designed for, to help you quickly identify the most suitable model.
Type II and Type IIR Surgical Masks
Medical devices intended for use in operating rooms, dental offices, and healthcare settings. The Type IIR classification provides additional protection against liquid splashes, which is essential whenever there is a risk of splashes.
FFP1, FFP2, and FFP3 Masks
Personal protective equipment designed to filter airborne particles and biological agents. It is essential on construction sites, in industrial settings, in laboratories, and anywhere else where exposure to dust, aerosols, or infectious agents requires enhanced respiratory protection.
Cleanroom masks
Specially designed for controlled environments in the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, food processing, and life sciences industries, where effective control of particulate contamination is critical to process quality and the safety of the finished product.
Masks with an exhalation valve
Designed for comfort during extended wear, they help wick away heat and moisture during sustained use without compromising filtration performance.
Standards and Protection Classes
Behind every mask model number lies a specific standard that guarantees its level of protection. For surgical masks, the distinction between Type II and Type IIR lies in their resistance to liquid splashes: Type IIR masks are tested to repel splashes, a critical requirement in the operating room or during procedures where there is a risk of splashes.
For FFP masks, the FFP1, FFP2, and FFP3 classifications indicate the level of filtration for airborne particles. The higher the class, the more suitable the respiratory protection is for environments with exposure to fine particles, biological agents, or toxic substances:
The FFP1 filters at least 80% of particles
The FFP2 mask filters at least 94% of particles
The FFP3 filter removes at least 99% of particles
How to Wear a Protective Mask Properly: Best Practices
Fit: The effectiveness of a professional protective mask depends as much on its filtration level as on the quality of its fit. The mask must be positioned to completely cover the nose, mouth, and chin, with no gaps between the face and the edges.
Nose clip: For FFP masks, the nose clip must be pinched to minimize leaks, and the mask must not be worn for longer than the duration specified for the class and model version.
Replacement: A damp, deformed, or soiled mask must be replaced immediately, regardless of its protection class.
