PPE for laboratories
In a laboratory, safety is never a minor detail. In the face of chemical hazards, biological agents and invisible particles, personal protective equipment is essential to prevent exposure.
With over fifty years of expertise and a reputation for French manufacturing, Medicom offers reliable, compliant solutions, specially designed to ensure optimum protection.

Why is PPE essential in the laboratory?
In a laboratory, staff face a range of risks: corrosive chemicals, infectious biological agents and invisible fine particles. Any exposure, however brief, can have serious consequences not only for health but also for the reliability of the analyses carried out. This is why prevention relies on the systematic use of appropriate protective equipment, which is incorporated into standard operating procedures.
PPE ensures safety and compliance, in accordance with EU Regulation 2016/425 and ISO/EN standards (EN 149 for FFP masks, EN 374 for chemical-resistant gloves, EN 14126 for coveralls). Prevention is better than cure: protection is essential.
How should you choose your PPE
in the laboratory?
Choosing personal protective equipment is not simply a matter of selecting a standard model: it is necessary to take into account the type of risk (chemical, biological, particulate), the duration of exposure, as well as the wearer’s comfort and body shape. Standards are crucial:
- EN 149 for FFP masks,
- EN 374 for gloves.
The right PPE is a guarantee of long-term safety.

Kolmi® Oxygen respiratory protective masks
Certified to EN 149 and classified as Category III PPE, Kolmi® Oxygen masks protect against fine particles, solvents and chemical agents. Manufactured in France, they are available in three sizes and contain up to 70% recycled materials, calculated using the mass balance method. A sustainable respiratory protection solution.

Safetouch® Heavy / Long Nitrile Gloves
With their 290 mm cuff and textured fingertips, Safetouch® gloves offer excellent resistance to chemicals. Certified to EN 374, they meet the requirements of laboratories handling solvents and corrosive substances. These nitrile gloves provide comfort, safety and enhanced protection for every operator.
Coverfeel® nitrile gloves (Touch / Care / Long)
Made in France, Coverfeel® nitrile gloves are available in several versions – Touch, Care and Long – and in sizes XS to XXL. Their remarkable elasticity ensures long-lasting comfort, even during repeated use in the laboratory. Versatile, they are also suitable for the medical and food industries.
WeePro® Labo coveralls (Micromium®)
Specially designed for cleanrooms, WeePro® Labo coveralls are made from Micromium®, a material with very low contamination levels. Available in sterile and non-sterile versions, they feature triple Easytear packaging for safe donning in controlled environments. Classified as Category III PPE, they offer comfort, ergonomic design and protection against contamination.
Surgical gowns (PP / microporous)
Available in a range of weights, with either a zip or button fastening, Medicom hygiene gowns provide effective protection against minor splashes. Lightweight and breathable, they are ideal for laboratory visitors. Some versions feature a waterproof microporous film to reinforce the protective barrier. A practical single-use solution.

Kolmi® Skidguard / Isoguard overshoes
Made in France, Kolmi® Skidguard and Isoguard shoe covers feature non-slip, water-repellent soles, making them ideal for ensuring safety when moving around the laboratory. Some versions contain up to 90% recycled polypropylene, contributing to a corporate social responsibility approach. They help prevent cross-contamination and provide reliable protection for staff.
Hair covers (hairnets, hoods, caps)
Essential in the laboratory, Medicom headwear – clip-on caps, hoods and beanies – effectively keeps hair and body hair in place, thereby minimising particle contamination. Made from lightweight polypropylene, some models are manufactured in France. Designed for single use, they are comfortable and breathable, ensuring optimal hygiene for staff and visitors.

Laboratory safety: safety, compliance and responsible conduct
In a laboratory, protection is not a one-way street: it is designed to protect the wearer just as much as it is to prevent contamination of the environment or the samples being handled. A skin particle, a fibre or even a tiny droplet can alter a result, sometimes in ways that are not immediately apparent.
That is why Medicom PPE — ISO AIR® masks, Micromium® coveralls and breathable headwear — is designed for controlled-atmosphere areas (ISO 3 to ISO 8). It provides a dual barrier: protection for staff and environmental cleanliness.
That is how reliability is maintained.
Medicom personal protective equipment is developed in strict compliance with European regulations and international standards.
Our surgical masks comply with standard EN 14683, our FFP masks with EN 149, our chemical-resistant gloves with EN 374, and our biological protection coveralls with EN 14126. Each batch is checked to ensure traceability and safety. This compliance with regulatory requirements, combined with CE certification, provides laboratories with a guarantee of reliability.
That is how quality can be guaranteed, day in, day out.
Every risk requires a tailored response: there is no one-size-fits-all solution. When dealing with chemicals, opt for EN 374-certified nitrile gloves worn with an FFP2 or FFP3 mask. For biological agents, choose an FFP mask and a Micromium®Category III coverall.
- Chemical hazards → nitrile gloves + FFP mask
- Biological hazards → FFP mask + Category III coverall
- Particulate hazards → filter masks + hairnets/overshoes
With two production sites in France, in Angers and Bessé-sur-Braye, Medicom strengthens industrial sovereignty and guarantees full traceability. Our solutions incorporate recycled materials using the Mass Balance approach and benefit from the Box Éco Logic Recycling programme. This commitment to sustainability forms part of a CSR approach recognised by ISO 26000 certification. French manufacturing, carbon reduction, sustainable innovation: three pillars that reflect our commitment to combining protection, performance and respect for the environment.
