ManiKHeir: Developing a Strategic French Industry

Against a backdrop marked by challenges related to industrial sovereignty, supply chain resilience, and reducing the environmental footprint, Medicom has invested in a French production line for nitrile examination gloves.

Located in Bessé-sur-Braye, in the Sarthe department, the ManiKHeir plant was established in 2021 with the goal of strengthening European self-sufficiency in the field of personal protective equipment. Its production capacity can reach up to one billion single-use nitrile gloves per year, meeting the strategic needs of the healthcare sector and other critical industries. Rigorous quality controls ensure that products comply with the most demanding standards.

Thanks to innovative, automated production technology, the plant ensures consistent quality and traceability at every stage. This 100% French production helps boost product availability while ensuring a reliable supply chain.

Expertise and Production
“Beyond product performance, this choice serves as a real driver for our environmental goals. The local manufacturing and technical specifications of these gloves directly contribute to reducing our Scope 3 carbon footprint, supporting our efforts toward Planet Care and Green Lab certification.”

Premium protection designed for demanding environments

Manufactured in France, the Kolmi® Coverfeel Care Long nitrile glove is a Class I medical device and Category III PPE. Its design meets the requirements of medical, pharmaceutical, and industrial environments:

  • Its accelerator-free formulation helps minimize the risk of Type IV allergies.
  • Powder-free, it also reduces the risk of irritation and airborne contamination.
  • Its 290 mm long cuff provides enhanced forearm protection, while its internal polymer coating makes it easier and faster to put on.
  • Its high elasticity promotes dexterity and comfort.
  • The textured fingertips provide a secure grip when handling objects.
  • Finally, its durability ensures long-lasting use in demanding applications.

In particular, the glove provides protection against chemicals (EN ISO 374-1 Type B – JKT), microorganisms, and viruses. It is also tested for handling chemotherapy drugs in accordance with ASTM D6978-05.

A Collaboration in Support of Sanofi's Commitments

The collaboration with Sanofi demonstrates Medicom’s commitment to combining its French industrial know-how with the expertise of a global leader in healthcare.

Field trials confirmed that the gloves meet Sanofi’s requirements for safety, comfort, and performance. Positive feedback from operators, in particular, confirmed the comfort provided by the product under real-world conditions.

Beyond protecting users, the choice of a glove manufactured in France serves as a means to support Sanofi’s environmental goals. Local production, a formulation free of chlorine and accelerators, responsible water management through an integrated treatment plant, and energy optimization of industrial processes all contribute to this approach.

This partnership thus contributes to several complementary objectives:

  • protecting operators with a solution tailored to demanding applications;
  • helping to reduce the Scope 3 carbon footprint;
  • supporting the Planet Care and Green Lab initiatives;
  • strengthening French industrial sovereignty;
  • ensuring a secure and reliable supply of examination gloves;
  • supporting the development of a sustainable and strategic French industry.
“This partnership is ultimately part of a strategy to ensure industrial sovereignty and secure our supply chains, while also serving as a concrete example of our commitments to corporate social responsibility.”
