PPE for dentists
Choose the right protection
PPE for dentists is not merely an accessory: it provides an essential barrier against biological and chemical risks (micro-organisms, blood, saliva, disinfectants, etc.), ensuring the safety of both practitioners and patients. and the safety of both practitioners and patients. Choosing PPE that complies with regulations and is manufactured in France is therefore a guarantee of reliability and peace of mind.

Why is there PPE specifically designed for dental practices?
In a dental practice, every action generates aerosols, every instrument can become a source of contamination, and every treatment exposes staff to a range of occupational risks, from skin irritation to cross-contamination. Prevention is not an option; it is part of our daily routine.
That is why Medicom offers a selection of PPE categorised by type of protection, designed to meet the specific needs of dentists and their teams. You will find specific product references, all of which comply with current standards, as well as quick guides to help you make your choice.

Protect your face
The face is the most exposed area: every treatment generates aerosols and invisible micro-droplets that can settle on the eyes, nose or mouth. Without suitable protection, the risk of splashes and contamination is very real. Wearing compliant PPE is therefore not a mere formality but an absolute necessity.
Medical face masks – Safe+Mask® Sofskin
The Safe+Mask® SofSkin Type IIR medical mask is the gold standard for everyday dental care. It offers high filtration whilst ensuring long-lasting comfort and minimising fogging thanks to its anti-fog strip. It is made in France. Simple and reliable protection, designed with the dentist in mind.
FFP Respiratory Protection Mask – Kolmi® Oxygen
The Kolmi® Oxygen FFP2 Type IIR, certified to EN 149, provides effective protection against aerosols during high-risk procedures. Available in a range of sizes, it ensures a secure and comfortable fit. Manufactured in France, it incorporates recycled materials (Mass Balance) to combine safety and sustainability.

Protecting your hands
Hands play a central role in every dental procedure and are therefore most at risk of cross-contamination. Wearing suitable gloves helps to minimise the risks associated with body fluids and chemicals, whilst ensuring comfort and precision during procedures.
Nitrile gloves – Kolmi Coverfeel Care Long
Kolmi Coverfeel Care Long gloves offer enhanced protection thanks to their long cuff, making them ideal for cleaning and sterilisation. Certified as Class I medical devices and Category III PPE, they combine comfort, elasticity and durability. Manufactured in France, they are available in sizes S to XXL.
Protecting the body
For dental professionals, the wearing of disposable protective gowns is recommended whenever there is a risk of splashes or contact with body fluids. They are used in particular during procedures that generate aerosols (scaling, restorative treatment, dental surgery), but also during consultations involving close and repeated contact with patients.
They can also be worn during cleaning, when disinfecting equipment or when preparing treatment rooms. By acting as a protective barrier, these gowns help to minimise cross-contamination and maintain a working environment that complies with the practice’s hygiene requirements.

Teething bibs
Made up of a cotton wool side and a polyethylene side, dental bibs form a waterproof barrier for the patient during dental treatment.
Paper cups
Designed to measure and dispense water or an oral disinfectant during dental or medical treatment, they make it easier for patients to rinse their mouths whilst ensuring hygienic, single-use application. Made from paper, they may also be available in a biodegradable version as part of a more environmentally friendly approach.

Instructions for use & procedures
Using PPE correctly is just as important as choosing the right equipment. A clear procedure helps to minimise cross-contamination and ensure that each item of protection is effective.
- Getting dressed/undressed: follow the correct order (gloves last when getting dressed, first when taking them off).
- Clean/dirty areas: separate the circuits, ventilate and extract effectively.
- Waste management: dispose of single-use PPE via the dedicated clinical waste stream.
Simple yet crucial steps for maintaining hygiene in the surgery.
